We screen prospective daycare dogs for:

The ability to share toys and people

A willingness to interact with other dogs and the daycare attendants

A willingness to be touched and guided by an attendant

General good health and well being

Great Dane Harley sits with Dashshund RioWe will test a prospective daycare client by observing him at our facility, first by himself and than with a few dogs and finally a full group. We will do some quick handling exercises and assess his anxiety level around and away from his owners. It is not unusual to have a dog that is so possessive of his owner to the point that he should not be at PlayDay but CAN be at daycare without his owner. It sometimes takes the pressure off them when their owner leaves and they can enjoy themselves. We want our daycare dogs to enjoy being in our care and being around other dogs. They must be safe for our attendants to handle and not a danger to other clientele (human and K9). In assessing Daycare clients, we are on the lookout for the best match with our existing doggy attendees.
