Five of our favorite Websites
There are now hundreds upon hundreds of dog training related websites. While these sites can provide owners with a wealth of training information and problem solving ideas, it can also be a little overwhelming. Without a background in training and behavior it is difficult to know which sites to trust and which are the best of the best. So we decided to do the work for you and this is a list of our favorite training sites.
Sue Ailsby Training Levels
www.dragonflyllama.com
Our Steps training program and Sue Ailsby’s Levels training program are very similar. So much so that after being inspired at one of Sue’s seminars we changed our Steps to include many of her recommendations. This site offers a clicker training on-line book, tips and an email list. Don’t miss Sue’s dog’s private pages - Scuba’s Page and Stitch’s page. Scuba is a service dog who was taught her skills with clicker training and Stitch is a service dog in training. Sue even has a blog so you can see Stitch’s training progress. We give this site two paws up!
Clicker Solutions
www.clickersolutions.com
This is the home site of the very popular Clicker Solutions email list. The site contains a clicker FAQ, Training Articles, recommended resources, Raising a Clicker puppy blog, Creating training plans, interviews with top clicker trainers and even info on clicker training other species. The articles section contains articles/posts from many of the well known and note worthy clicker trainers. Well worth a spot in your favorite places.
Flying Dog Press
www.flyingdogpress.com
Suzanne Clothier the owner of this site, is a well known trainer and “sport dog coach.” While she is not a clicker trainer we feel her site is note worthy for the Free Articles section. Her articles are written from a different perspective with dog behavior and the human/dog bond in mind. A great site if you are facing behavior problems or just want to understand your canine companion a little better.
The Dogpatch
www.dogpatch.com
This is the resource site if you are interested in clicker training, obedience, agility, frisbee, herding, or musical freestyle. This site contains hundreds of links to other sites all neatly organized by topic. A really very nice on-line library.
Dog Play
www.dog-play.com
The name says it all. This site is about all the fun things you can do with your dog either competitively or just for fun. The site owner has articles and personal info on some subjects and a nice selection of links on others. There is also a section devoted to training as well as a “Dogs and Kids” section.
